As the nation is gripped by Matilda fever ahead of the World Cup, a new four-part documentary series offers an in-depth look at rising star Mary Fowler.
The documentary, titled ‘MARY’, is available for streaming free of charge on 7plus.
From a young age, Fowler was inspired to pursue her football dreams by Australian Olympians. Despite facing numerous obstacles, the Cairns-born forward has emerged as a valuable player for Australia and a role model for young women across the country.
At 16, Fowler was the youngest member of the 2019 national squad, having demonstrated her talent in youth national teams.
This World Cup marks her fourth major tournament appearance. She notably found the back of the net during the 2022 AFC Women’s Asian Cup and scored a crucial goal against Great Britain in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
In her club career, Fowler’s first overseas contract was with Montpellier HSC in France, where she spent two seasons. She subsequently secured a four-year contract with Manchester City in the Women’s Super League.
