In what has been hailed as the most successful comedy launch television has witnessed since 2019, the return of Thank God You’re Here has undoubtedly captured the hearts and laughs of Australian audiences.

The premiere episode raked in a staggering 987,000 national viewers (677k metro, 251k regional, 60k 10play), peaking at an impressive 1.09 million.

Under the comedic guidance of legend Glenn Robbins, the show featured comedians Urzila Carlson, Aaron Chen, Julia Zemiro, and Mark Bonanno. Celia Pacquola took on the role of host, ensuring the evening’s proceedings ran smoothly. Julia Zemiro, in particular, was lauded for her comedic prowess, bagging the title of the evening’s best BS-er.

The show’s undeniable success was evident as it topped ratings in its key demographics: under 50s, 25 to 54s, and 16 to 39s. Furthermore, with a significant commercial share of 55.7% in the 16 to 39s age bracket, 52.7% in the under 50s, and 49.8% in the 25 to 54s, the show marked itself as Channel 10’s premier launch of the year.

The Senior Vice President of Content and Programming for Paramount Australia and New Zealand, Daniel Monaghan, praised the launch, saying,

“Last night’s result was nothing short of epic. We’re confident that this is just the beginning of an eight-week comedy extravaganza.

We owe a tremendous amount of gratitude to our production partners at Working Dog for consistently crafting some of the most humorous content on Australian television.”

Echoing Monaghan’s sentiments, Chief Sales Officer of Paramount ANZ, Rod Prosser added,

“The figures from Thank God You’re Here‘s launch night underscored its unparalleled success, noting a 211% increase week-on-week and a remarkable 81% rise year-on-year.

Such statistics present a golden opportunity for brands to reach their target audiences.”

Prosser also took the time to acknowledge their advertising partners, attributing part of the launch’s resounding success to their invaluable support.

To put this launch into perspective, the show’s numbers exceeded Channel 10’s previous record, set by Masked Singer Australia in 2019, and stands as the biggest comedy launch since All Aussie Adventures in 2018. It also tops the charts as TV’s most significant comedy launch since Hamish and Andy’s Perfect Holiday back in 2019.

With the show set to continue its run, Australian viewers can look forward to more hysterical episodes in the coming weeks.
