The final episode of the captivating ABC series ‘The Black Hand’, airing Tuesday at 8.30pm on ABC and iview, promises a thrilling conclusion to Vincenzo D’Agostino’s saga.

As the world plunges into the second world war, viewers witness the collapse of Vincenzo D’Agostino’s criminal empire.

Anthony LaPaglia navigates us through the narrative as D’Agostino grapples with isolation after the shocking murder of his loyal accomplice, Francesco Femio. This leaves a deep void in the power structure, accelerating D’Agostino’s downfall and paving the way for the Italians to retaliate. The power of ‘The Black Hand’, once feared by many, begins to crumble.

The strain between Anglo and Italian communities intensifies as the ominous shadow of fascism looms large, further fuelling global anxieties. LaPaglia’s intriguing encounter with anti-mafia priest Father Giuseppe Demasi in Calabria sheds light on the ongoing struggle of mourning organised crime figures, a societal challenge that was as relevant in the 1930s as it is today.

With the North Queensland Italians progressively liberating themselves from ‘The Black Hand’, new threats emerge as Mussolini allies with Hitler. The resulting designation of Italians in Australia as ‘Enemy Aliens’ adds a new layer of complexity to the unfolding drama.

The final episode of ‘The Black Hand’, a product of WildBear Entertainment for ABC, is set to be a riveting climax. The principal production funding comes from Screen Australia, in association with ABC, while financial support is provided by Screen NSW and Screen Queensland. The episode is the creative vision of director Kriv Stenders, producers Kate Pappas and Adam Grossetti, and executive producers Alan Erson, Michael Tear and Anthony LaPaglia. Julie Hanna is ABC’s Factual Manager and Richard Huddleston is the Acting Head of Factual and Culture.

Final Episode – The Black Hand – Series 1, Episode 3 of 3 airs Tuesday 11 July at 8.30pm on ABC and iview
