Australian television critic Mitch McTaggart is back, ready to ruffle feathers and ignite laughter with his unflinching deep-dive into the country’s TV archives.

His new six-episode series, ‘The Back Side of Television’ Season 2, is set to expose some of the most ridiculous, disheartening, and downright shameful moments from Australia’s television history.

The series, with its unapologetically sharp critique, aims to show the underbelly of Australian television, including its overly dramatic, poorly developed, and at times maddeningly subpar moments. Yet, in its comprehensive skewering, the show will also spotlight some gems from the annals of Aussie TV.

The second season of ‘The Back Side of Television’ will premiere on Monday, July 10, on the streaming platform BINGE. It will later air on FOX8 on Tuesday, August 1 at 8:30 pm and be available On Demand.

Mitch McTaggart said:

“Australian TV history has so much to offer, it’s a window to our very souls. Whether we like it or not, we’ve all been shaped by television in our lives. Across every possible genre – game shows, news, drama – it’s all vital context to understanding who we are as people.

“This series is huge. We’ve gone so far into the archives this time, we’re basically finding old tapes in air vents. Expect to see hilariously shocking stories about your favourite shows, and plenty you’ve never heard of. That’s what it’s all about – a wild expedition through a wild industry.”

THE BACK SIDE OF TELEVISION season two (6 eps) – premiere Monday July 10, exclusively on BINGE.

The series will also screen on Foxtel’s FOX8 channel from Tuesday, August 1 at 8:30 pm and be available On Demand.
