Is this the foreboding return of MILLION DOLLAR ISLAND AUSTRALIA? (Narrator: No.)

Channel 9

A Current Affair (640,000) offers Nine a sizeable start, though the season two finale of Parental Guidance (411,000) slips into second place in primetime. The night then splits into Wally Lewis: The King (93,000 Nine BNE/SYD) or Westgate Bridge Disasters: The Untold Stories (101,000 Nine MEL/ADL/PER). Afterwards, Chicago Med (70,000) and See No Evil (51,000) close out the night across all five primary markets. The first session of The Ashes: First Test Day 5 S1 (288,000) performed admirably considering it was rained out.

Nine second in both primary (18.3%) and network (34.8%) rankings.

Channel 7

Seven open the night with their best in Home & Away (501,000); Million Dollar Island Australia (270,000) manages the smallest of upticks which might save it from what was looking to be its inevitable playout ending on 7mate. Afterwards it’s all about the US drama line-up with The Rookie (172,000), The Rookie: Feds (126,000), and The Blacklist (36,000).

Seven first in both primary (16.8%) and network (24.9%) rankings.

Channel 10

The Project (203,000 6:30pm; 259,000 7pm) and MasterChef Australia (448,000) again go hard on the primary channel, followed by The Cheap Seats (351,000), both delivering the biggest entertainment audiences of the night in their respective slots. Repeats of NCIS (111,000) and North Shore (32,000) close out the late night.

10 third in both primary (11.1%) and network (17%) rankings.

ABC

7:30 (429,000) and The ABC Of (348,000) Greig Pickhaver opened the ABC’s night well, then slid into Flyways: The Story of Migratory Shorebirds (193,000), Joanna Lumley and the Human Swan (112,000) and a repeat of Four Corners (27,000).

ABC fourth in both primary (10%) and network (14.8%) rankings.

SBS

Another excellent night under-appreciated on SBS, starting with Who Do You Think You Are? Australia (206,000), and leading to Insight (114,000) and Dateline (66,000).

SBS fifth in both primary (4.5%) and network (8.5%) rankings.
