Renowned Walkley award-winning journalist, Erin Edwards, has been appointed as the new Executive Editor of Network 10’s Queensland bulletin, 10 News First Queensland.
Erin Edwards, with her extensive experience of more than two decades, is set to bring a fresh perspective to the Queensland news scene.
Edwards has spent the last 23 years working as a senior journalist at Seven, developing her skills and establishing connections across the state. She served in various roles in Mackay, Townsville, the Sunshine Coast, and her hometown, Brisbane, before deciding to join 10 News First Queensland.
Martin White, who heads Broadcast News at Paramount Australia and New Zealand, expressed his delight at Edwards’ appointment, stating that she will contribute significantly to the network’s contemporary industry insights.
“Erin’s role as the editorial leader of the newsroom will be pivotal in setting the agenda for quality local and national content for Queensland. Her exceptional eye for news, superior story-telling skills and unmatched professionalism will undoubtedly shape the Queensland bulletin,” White said.
Born in Queensland, Edwards graduated with a Bachelor of Journalism from The University of Queensland. During her tenure at Seven, she won a Walkley Award for Television News Reporting for her compelling coverage of the Lockyer Valley Flood.
The new Executive Editor expressed her excitement about her role at 10 News First and her eagerness to deliver stories with a strong community focus.
“We will continue to deliver breaking news and will not shy away from tackling the hard stories. However, we also aim to highlight the remarkable work of quiet achievers, community leaders and inspirational Queenslanders.
These stories unite us, make us proud, and truly represent the spirit of our state,” Edwards said.
She further expressed her admiration for 10 News First’s resilience and determination over the years, and her enthusiasm to work with their experienced team of local journalists and production staff.
“Working alongside Sandra Sully, one of Queensland’s and Australia’s most iconic and talented news anchors, is an incredible career highlight for me. I’m beyond excited for this opportunity,” Edwards added.
