Acclaimed journalist Adele Ferguson, known for her cutting-edge exposés and critical insights into business, is set to grace ABC News as an investigative journalist and senior business commentator.

Ferguson, an award-winning journalist whose work has led to major national inquiries, is set to enhance the team of ABC’s investigations led by Sean Nicholls.

A stalwart in Australian journalism, Ferguson has notched significant achievements, including instigating a royal commission and legislative changes that positively impacted millions of lives. Her extensive body of work has exposed irregularities across industries like banking (“Banking Bad”), life insurance (“Money for Nothing”), retirement villages (“Bleed Them Dry”), cosmetic surgery (“Cosmetic Cowboys”), wage fraud (“7-Eleven: The Price of Convenience”), Medicare waste (“Medicare scandal”), failing workers compensation schemes (“Immoral and Unethical”), and the Australian Tax Office (“Mongrel Bunch of Bastards”).

Her groundbreaking coverage of banking sector scandals played a pivotal role in sparking the Hayne Royal Commission into Australia’s banks and financial institutions, earning her the prestigious Gold Walkley Award — the zenith of Australian journalism.

Ferguson will also provide expert business analysis, contributing regular columns to ABC News online and making appearances on the popular program, 7.30.

Ferguson’s illustrious career began at Adelaide’s The Advertiser and later saw her working at prominent publications such as Business Review Weekly, The Australian, The Sydney Morning Herald, and The Age. Her remarkable achievements encompass nine Walkley Awards, a Logie Award, the Graham Perkin Journalist of the Year Award, 20 Melbourne Press Club Quill Awards, 14 Kennedy Awards, and National Press Club awards. She was made a Member of the Order of Australia in the 2019 Australia Day Honours.

Additionally, Ferguson is a best-selling author of two books, “Gina Rinehart: The Untold Story of the Richest Woman in the World” and “Banking Bad, Whistleblowers, Corporations and Coverups. One journalist’s fight for the truth”, and currently serves as Chair of the Walkley Foundation.
