The nation’s favourite rural romance attracted its largest-ever audience on 7plus and the series averaged 1.17 million viewers in 2023, an impressive 16% increase on 2022, as revealed by newly released VOZ data.

On the 7plus platform, Farmer Wants A Wife saw a significant boost in BVOD reach, surging 45% year-on-year. The free streaming service reported 1.47 million unique viewers to date, with an average viewership of 188,000 per episode. Seven’s Chief Content Officer of Entertainment Programming, Angus Ross, lauded the success of the show.

“Farmer Wants A Wife has attracted record audiences this year, with over 8.5 million Australians tuning in to the fairy tale,”

“Earning strong viewership across all screens, the show has soared to become Seven’s #1 entertainment show in 2023 and Australia’s top-rated entertainment series since Easter.”

Ross further emphasised the significance of the VOZ total audience data, calling it the most relevant measure of content engagement. The recently launched new ratings metric merges audience overnight audience figures from the metro and regional free-to-air markets with streaming data to provide a single figure that better represents Australian viewership.

“The show’s massive audience across Seven and 7plus highlights why VOZ total audience is the best and most relevant measure of how our content attracts and engages viewers.”

Hosted by Samantha Armytage and co-host Natalie Gruzlewski, the series, famous for playing cupid, ruled its timeslot and secured its largest commercial audience share since 2020. Adding to the season’s unique achievements, for the first time in Australian television, every farmer participating in the show found genuine love.

Fans of the show will be thrilled to learn that Farmer Wants A Wife will return in 2024. The series is a collaborative effort between Fremantle Australia and Eureka Productions, produced exclusively for the Seven Network.
