In an unsurprising move, Channel Nine has confirmed the cancellation of cooking format “Snackmasters”.
After just two seasons and ten episodes, the network decided to end the unique culinary challenge that had skilled chefs recreating Australia’s favourite snacks.
A spokesperson for Channel 9 confirmed the decision telling the Daily Mail that “Snackmasters isn’t in the schedule for 2023”.
The decision comes as Channel 9 continues to rejuvenate its primetime schedule after axing a significant list of 2022 titles including Australian Ninja Warrior, Beauty and the Geek, Celebrity Apprentice Australia, Australia Behind Bars, and The Weekest Link.
Channel 9 will now be looking its new cooking format Food Stars presented by Gordon Ramsay and Janine Allis to attract viewers and supermarket advertisers in 2023.
Snackmasters, hosted by Scott Pickett, Poh Ling Yeow and Yvie Jones, featured highly awarded chefs at the top of their game competing to replicate iconic Aussie snacks. The intriguing premise had audiences around Australia questioning whether their top chefs could crack the snack magic.
The winning chef, whose recipe came closest to the original snack, was awarded the coveted Snack Trophy, earning bragging rights as a true Snack Master.
The show featured an array of beloved snacks, including Twisties, Drumsticks, Whoppers, and Cadbury Favourites. As the only Aussie food show on prime-time TV where viewers knew exactly how the finished results should taste, “Snackmasters” offered a unique viewing experience that will be missed by its fans.
