The Australian of the Year Awards are set to take place tonight, Wednesday, January 25th, live from Canberra’s National Arboretum.

Hosted by Hamish Macdonald and Susie Youssef, the event will be broadcast on ABC TV, ABC iview, ABC NEWS channel, and ABC Radio starting at 7:30pm AEDT.

The awards ceremony, presented by Prime Minister the Hon Anthony Albanese, will celebrate the achievements and contributions of 33 outstanding Australians across four prestigious categories, culminating in the announcement of the Australian of the Year 2023.

The Australian of the Year Awards promises to be a night of celebration and recognition for the nation’s most outstanding citizens.

Adding to the evening’s entertainment, audiences can expect performances by singer-songwriter Budjerah. Meanwhile, ABC Canberra’s Adam Shirley will bring listeners behind-the-scenes coverage on ABC Radio from 7.00pm-10.00pm AEDT.

On January 26th, at 8:30am local time, the first feature-length interview with the recipient of the Australian of the Year will air on ABC Radio local stations.
