Paramount+ has released the first video teaser and confirmed an Australian premiere date for the highly anticipated second season of the Emmy-nominated drama Yellowjackets.
Fans have been eagerly waiting for the return of the series that has a rare 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes and received seven Emmy nominations.
In season two, fans can expect to see Lauren Ambrose and Simone Kessell join the series as series regulars, along with Elijah Wood in a season-long guest arc.
Equal parts survival epic, psychological horror story, and coming-of-age drama, Yellowjackets tells the story of a team of wildly talented high school girl soccer players who become the (un)lucky survivors of a plane crash deep in the remote northern wilderness.
The series chronicles their descent from a complicated but thriving team to savage clans, while also tracking the lives they’ve attempted to piece back together nearly 25 years later, proving that the past is never really past.
Yellowjackets is produced for SHOWTIME by studio Entertainment One (eOne) and is currently in production in Vancouver.
The series is created by Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson, the team behind the hit series Narcos.
The series stars an all-star cast including Emmy nominee and Critics Choice Award winner Melanie Lynskey, Oscar and Emmy nominee Juliette Lewis, Emmy nominee Christina Ricci, and Tawny Cypress.
The second season also stars Sophie Nélisse, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Sophie Thatcher, Samantha Hanratty, Courtney Eaton, Liv Hewson, Steven Krueger, Warren Kole, and Kevin Alves.
The series is executive produced by Lyle, Nickerson, and Jonathan Lisco, with Drew Comins of Creative Engine also serving as executive producer. Karyn Kusama directed the pilot.
With an all-star cast and an intriguing story, Season two Yellowjackets is sure to be a hit with audiences.
