    • My exact thoughts.
Meanwhile we’re watching 20+ year-old crap or worse still, nothing but sport sport sport.
I’m left with zilch channels after deleting most and now Seven?
Rates must have been based in hours of hopefully flicking channels in search of something to watch while knowing thete was nothing.
Throwing tv out. Seven was once good. Not now. It’s s mug’s game for sports betters only. Thanks for nothing.

  1. Looks like a channel full of Real Housewives of somewhere and all those types of crap shows. The types of shows no-one wants to watch.

  2. Hi why can’t you have channel that has SciFi on it free to air TV this new channel you are bringing it’s just the same shows as they always put on. its the same repeat every time you want people interested put something else on l have been asking for that for so long now . you could put some really good doco on .
Have great day l hope we get some documents and scfi shows an movie that are not repeat

  3. here’s a thought what about a movie channel with nothing but movies wouldn’t that be great but no we have to have another useless channel full of losers

      • It’s a real shame as nobody really likes watching sd channels and prefer to watch all channels to be in hd by now. We are way behind now with all these new tv’s capable of showing every channel in hd.

        • Hi David – it’s more the bandwidth available to the Networks for their OTA broadcasts. They physically cannot transmit all their channels in HD, and they would also be slicing out a sizeable chunk of market that don’t have HD devices.

          • It is a 1080p HD channel, actually. Also the HD channels use the more efficient h.264 mpeg-4 codec instead of the Mpeg-2 used by some SD channels, so they don’t take up that much more bandwidth especially relative to the picture quality. A lot of channels which are SD are actually h.264 as well (like SBS World Watch, 7flix and 10 Shake). HD TVs have been around for a very long time now (like 15 years) and they should all support the h.264 codec, so it isn’t a ‘sizeable chunk’ that don’t have HD devices. And if they did have one of those very old TVs then the owner would likely be an old-timer themselves and not be interested in 7 Bravo content.

    • I can confirm it is a HD channel. I recorded some of the standby screen on my PC TV tuner and looked at the file.

  4. I feel a headache coming on, why oh why do you try shoving this garbage down our throats! I’ve never wanted this on the existing 7 network channels or any others so why would I want a new channel dedicated to it so being completely wasted on it. Put 7mate back on 73 where it belongs, make that HD as it started out as and was originally promoted (I had to upgrade to watch it so can’t have been SD in the beginning..), 74 is the wrong channel for 7mate. Back to the point, I’ll be Deleting or setting SKIP for Channel 75 – 7bravo now that I know what it’s going to be for.

  5. I was looking forward to 7Bravo as I thaught it was an unsubtitled movie marathon channel. Overwhelmingly disappointed to read it is just rerun sitcoms, AGAIN. Last night I watched the Batman movies, Justice League & Birds of Prey on channel 9. Very entertaining viewing, good job channel 9. It was what TV’S were designed to do.

  6. Why doesn’t Channel 7 just make a kids channel or at least something more useful, this new channel has the same junk that you can see on cable tv, so what the point.

  7. Same crap different channel number.
No wonder people moved away from tv. Same old garbage driven by pleb chasing.
I can’t believe the state of Australian TV. Old, repetitive, boring.
We need a free to air channel that’s interesting. This is just another wasted channel frequency that is just another chance to pull in money from advertises. Funny thing is, if there was something interesting on we’d watch it. But narh, I doubt it will be anything special. Same same by the looks of things.

  8. Hey, It may be better than Network 10, give it a chance. (I hate 10’s chaining of shows)
For real entertainment diversity give SBS a Try …. lots of good stuff there

    • Hi Tony – at this stage you’ll only get it on Foxtel via your free-to-air antenna plugged into your iQ.

  9. It seems FTA commercial stations are trying to push us onto pay to view, the Federal Government’s licensing has not done the Australian People any favours, and should be ashamed of themselves. We were far better off before pay to view and only had 3 commercial channels, and of course ABC and SBS. The Federal Minister of Communications needs to wave a stick.

    • Hi Laurie – how are the free-to-air networks trying to “push you” on to pay to view by providing an extra channel in their suite (for free)?

      • Well, having sold their souls to the large overseas pay to views, they fill FTA with absolute crap.. movies as old as 1935.. ongoing repeats of old series’.. eg Diagnoses Murder, NCIS etc and let’s not forget that disease of “lifestyle” shows, like this new channel Bravo… who really cares about watching the antics of what happens at airports… or fishing shows…or so much sport.. or competition “cooking” shows.. or how pathetic wannabes behave on not so “isolated” islands/jungles etc… I think you get my drift. With the advent of digital channels we were promised so much more… no-one expected what we actually got. Steve, I do not know your age, but some of us can remember when we had “less” but had so much MORE.

        • (In part the fragmentation has meant that networks have less choice unless they want to pay more money. That said, the model has changed irrevocably and the only thing keeping FTA alive is News, live sport, and reality TV.)

  10. Steve, you fail to understand what I am saying, best we not discuss this any further, you seem to like the crap that is dished up, that’s ok, I am glad you are happy.
As for (In part the fragmentation has meant that networks have less choice unless they want to pay more money. That said, the model has changed irrevocably and the only thing keeping FTA alive is News, live sport, and reality TV.) this I blame on the Federal government for allowing it, I guess it’s another case of money/power talks.

    • Hi Laurie – You’re right in that I don’t understand, however I am happy to try and understand. I am not a fan of “all the crap that is dished up”…quite the contrary if you’ve read anything I’ve written or podcast or spoken on radio about it all.

The Federal Government never had any say over the fragmentation…that’s just straight up capitalism.

      • “if you’ve read anything I’ve written or podcast or spoken on radio about it all,” I have no idea who you are, or what you podcast or speak on radio about, I’m simply stating how I feel about the current TV programming, and how woeful it has become.. I do put some blame on the Federal Government, after all they allow the changes in TV ownership and licencing.. they sold out to big money, to the detriment of the very people they are supposed to look after, the Australian people. FTA once survived quite well on advertising revenue, that all changed with the granting of more pay to view, and allowing pay to view to take shares in FTA. Steve, do you remember when Foxtel started… it was pay to view, with NO ads… now you pay to view with ads, again the public being ripped off. Steve, I think you should listen to this classic.
        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZPEKbXNYWwE

        • Hi Laurie – welcome to TV Blackbox, which I co-own, and where we publish the TV Blackbox and TV Bingebox podcasts I’m on.

The Govt weren’t responsible for “granting more to pay to view”. In fact the anti-siphoning list mandated by the Government ensures the complete opposite where content *has* to remain on free-to-air TV. Foxtel play ads sure, and yes you have to pay to get it. You also have to pay to get Netflix, Stan, Disney+, Prime Video, etc. It’s fine to feel upset about this but it’s not the Government to blame – it’s the free-to-air television stations. The situation we’re in is not as simple as you’re implying, and it’s certainly not the blame of the people you’re saying it is.

  11. why they didn’t just give Oxygen its own channel I’ll never know

Oxygen is a behemoth in the US and its actually on free to air over there now too

hopefully they will separate the two eventually as true crime doesn’t really fit with the other shows from E! Entertainment

i promise if they bring Oxygen channel with fast release times for the new episodes of shows each week it’ll go crazy with viewership, aussies have been begging for a proper true crime channel that isn’t on foxtel ( they aren’t very good either, lots of old re-runs from old titles )
