Daryl Somers has confirmed filming is now complete on two brand new Hey Hey It’s Saturday specials which will be focused on the iconic segment Red Faces.

The two Red Faces specials were commissioned after the 50th-anniversary retrospective became one of the most-watched television events of 2021.

Facebook letter to fans from Daryl Somers

Hi All,

I’m very excited to let you know we have just delivered the second of two new Red Faces specials to Seven for on-air soon.

We had so much fun putting these together and have included many favourites you’ve requested like The Amazing Nigel and Harry

(we can now finally reveal what happened to their magic dove that flew into the lighting grid … you won’t be disappointed).

It’s extraordinary the lengths people would go to just to be on the show. Age was no barrier, nor lack of talent, the more bizarre the better:

Can you drink a can of coke without using your mouth? How many tunes can you play on your oven? You may have had an egg roll but have you ever tried a Humpty Dumpty rap? How much fun can you get out of six dissected animals?

There’s something for everyone in these two light-hearted specials celebrating one of the best traits of the Australian character, humour … with a large dose of self-deprecation thrown in for good measure.

Stay happy,

Daryl
