The Victorian seat of Kooyong has always been held by conservative parties, with Liberal MP and Treasurer Josh Frydenberg representing the electorate since 2010. This federal election, it is under threat as rising Independent challenger Dr Monique Ryan looks to unseat the Liberal member.

Host of the forum and Sky News Chief Anchor Kieran Gilbert said:

“Mr Frydenberg is facing a credible challenge with Dr Ryan, who is hoping to unseat the man that many consider to be a future Party Leader and Prime Minister. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to have these two candidates go head-to-head on our news service and in front of the most important audience, the undecided voters.”

The Sky News People’s Forum Marginal Debate Series has been a new addition to the Sky News Election 2022 programming schedule. The first forum was held in the seat of Wentworth and featured Dave Sharma and Allegra Spender where they debated their views on political integrity, religious freedom, climate, electric vehicles, the boycott Israel movement, and foreign affairs. The second was held yesterday in the seat of North Sydney and featured a three-way showdown between Liberal MP Trent Zimmerman, Labor challenger Catherine Renshaw and Climate 200-backed Independent candidate Kylea Tink.
