Melbourne’s weeknight news presenter has been missing in action, with viewers questioning his whereabouts.
7News Melbourne anchor Peter Mitchell has announced he will return to the news desk tonight after a two-week stint in isolation, due to COVID-19.
In a video posted across his social media accounts, Mitchell explained the reason for his unexpected absence.
He said:
“We’ve survived two weeks of COVID isolation in the Mitchell household, and after a bit of a much needed spruce up, I’ll be back on 7News this evening.”
Mitchell did not confirm whether he or if members of his household had actually tested positive to COVID-19, or if they were simply close contacts to someone else who did.
In his absence, weekend co-anchor Rebecca Maddern stepped into the weeknight presenting role.
Returning tonight, Mitchell and the 7News team will be live and exclusive from the MCG as the Melbourne Demons unveil their premiership flag ahead of the 2022 AFL season, after winning the Grand Final against the Western Bulldogs in 2021.
Seven’s coverage of the 2022 AFL season kicks off tonight with a rematch between both grand finalists in Round One.
