ESPN hits the ice with bumper opening National Hockey League schedule

Ice Hockey fans across Australia and New Zealand will witness more action than ever before across the ESPN platforms throughout the 2021-22 National Hockey League season, including a packed opening week schedule.

Courtesy of a long-term seven-year agreement between ESPN and the National Hockey League, ESPN is now the exclusive home of the NHL in Australia and New Zealand.
 
The 2021-22 National Hockey League season begins Wednesday October 13 live across ESPN2 and the ESPN App*.
 
Every single game of the 2021-22 NHL season will be live and exclusive on the ESPN App*, totaling over 1400 live matches.
 
Featured matches will also be available throughout the season, across ESPN and ESPN2, which include the National Hockey League Playoffs and Stanley Cup Final.
 
ESPN kick-starts the new season on Wednesday October 13, with a blockbuster double header, live on ESPN2 and the ESPN App*.
 
The new season begins with the defending Stanley Cup Champions Tampa Bay in action, live at 10.30am AEDT on ESPN2.
 
The Lightning launch their chase for a third straight NHL crown against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
 
That will be followed by the National Hockey League debut of the leagues newest franchise, the Seattle Kraken.
 
Seattle begin its inaugural season, against the side who set the standard for new NHL franchises, the Las Vegas Golden Knights.
 
The puck drops at 1pm AEDT, as part of back to back opening day National Hockey League action live on ESPN.
 
The new National Hockey League season on ESPN then goes to overdrive on Thursday October 14 with five live games available live and exclusive on the ESPN App*.
 
Highlights include the Maple Leafs squaring off with the Canadiens and conference rivals the Rangers and Capitals colliding.
 
Friday October 15 also sees a further nine National Hockey League matches live on the ESPN App* with six of those getting underway from 10am AEDT.
 
Access to the live games on the ESPN App and ESPN.com.au are available to ESPN channel subscribers via Foxtel, Fetch TV and SKY NZ. Viewers must enter their platform credentials to gain access.
