The Tampa Bay Lightning will meet the Montreal Canadiens for the National Hockey League’s biggest prize, with every game of the Stanley Cup Finals live on ESPN Australia New Zealand.
Tampa Bay and Montreal will collide for the Stanley Cup, beginning Tuesday June 29 on ESPN2 at 10am AEST.
The Lightning will be strong favourites, given they are the defending NHL champions and are playing in their third Stanley Cup Finals since 2015.
Tampa needed seven games to see off the New York Islanders, claiming a tense final game 1-0 on Saturday AEST, to secure their place in the Stanley Cup Finals.
The Canadiens did it a little easier, needing six games to secure the series victory over the Las Vegas Golden Knights.
Montreal will be looking to end a 28-year championship drought for not only the franchise, but also the nation they represent.
1993 was the last time the Canadiens were crowned champions, and this year is the first time in a decade that a Canadian franchise has reached the finals.
With the first two Stanley Cup Finals matches in Florida, Montreal will need to get winning on the road, if they are to lift ice hockey’s most prestigious championship.
