Supercars series leader Shane van Gisbergen set Darwin alight on Sunday with an inspired display of driving that saw him claim the final two races of the Merlin Darwin Triple Crown.

Seven Network’s live and free coverage reached a combined 2.22 million people nationally and 1.44 million in the capital cities across Saturday and Sunday.

On a thrilling weekend when van Gisbergen drew level with the legendary Peter Brock’s 48 career Supercars victories, Seven’s race audience was 19% bigger than Network 10’s Darwin 2020 audience and was nearly tripleFoxtel’s national audience this year.

Across the weekend at Hidden Valley Raceway, 7plus streamed 1.61 million minutes of Supercars action.

As van Gisbergen blitzed the field in races 13 and 14 yesterday, Seven delivered 74% of the Supercars race audience, having delivered 75% of the race audience on Saturday.

An average 388,000 people nationally and 216,000 in the capital cities tuned in to race 14 on Seven yesterday.

Seven’s live and free Supercars coverage continues on 10-11 July when the 2021 Championship resumes with the NTI Townsville 500 at Reid Park Street Circuit.
