More big numbers for KAYO as viewers switch to streaming for Mega-Weekend of Sport

Sports fans across the country have again turned to KAYO on a weekend that was packed with memorable sporting moments

On Sunday, Kayo was Australia’s 2nd most downloaded app with 285,000 unique viewers streaming sports, including 550,000 hours of Bathurst 1000 coverage.

SuperCars

TV Blackbox can reveal Sunday’s commercial-free coverage of the Bathurst 1000 race attracted an average national audience of 424,000 across the platforms of Foxtel and Kayo.

The audience figure makes it the 2nd highest rating SuperCars race since Foxtel commenced broadcasting the event

Despite the strong result, viewing was down 21% compared w.ith last years record-breaking figures. An earlier start time due to forecasted rain, fewer crashes and controversies, and a much earlier finish were all considered factors in the lower figure.

Free-To-Air coverage of the race on Network Ten averaged 670,000 metro (1.126 mil nationally), down -19% on 2019.

The result means the combined National Free-To-Air+Foxtel audience for the race was 1.550 Million.

NRL

Week 3 of the NRL Finals attracted an average audience of 462,000 per match across Foxtel platforms and Kayo; up +5% on last year’s Week 3 Finals with audience growth lead by streaming with Foxtel Now, Foxtel Go and Kayo up 80%. 

This is the all-time highest rating weekend of NRL Finals Footy on Fox League.

The 2nd Preliminary Final between Panthers vs Rabbitohs was the most-watched NRL match of the weekend across Foxtel platforms and Kayo with 473,000 making it the 2nd highest ever NRL Finals game on Fox League.

Nine’s Free-To-Air coverage of the match attracted an average audience of 548k metro (913k national).

The result means the combined National Free-To-Air+Foxtel audience for the Saturday night game was 1.386 Million

AFL

Week 3 of the AFL Finals attracted an average audience of 467,000 per match across Foxtel platforms and Kayo; down -8% on last year’s Week 3 Finals although streaming audiences on Foxtel Now, Foxtel GO and Kayo continued to grow up +87%. 

In 2019, AFL Preliminary Finals involved teams from Melbourne and Sydney, Australia’s two largest STV markets, while the 2020 Preliminary Finals featured teams from Melbourne, Adelaide and Brisbane.

Port Adelaide vs Richmond was the most watched match on the weekend across Foxtel Platforms and Kayo with 476,000 viewers.

Seven’s Free-To-Air coverage of the match attracted an average audience of 1.087 metro (1.386m national).

The result means the combined National Free-To-Air+Foxtel audience for the Friday night game was a massive 1.862 Million viewers.
