The world’s longest-running, most successful true-crime series, Forensic Files, returns to Foxtel with all-new mysteries to watch on Crime + Investigation or stream on demand.

Long considered the gold standard of crime and justice non-fiction programming, the popular series returns after an eight-year production hiatus with 16 intriguing new mysteries.

Narrated by acclaimed film, stage and television actor Bill Camp, Forensic Files II will feature the same format and story-type that made the original series a cult hit, utilising cutting edge forensics to crack the most baffling criminal cases.

Jim Buchan, Foxtel Group General Manager Factual, said: “As the popularity of the true-crime genre explodes worldwide there remains one show that continues to set the highest standard for perfection and performance, Forensic Files. Its winning formula exemplifies the reasons why audiences continue to remain fascinated in the genre. Riveting storytelling around incredible cases that always ends with a great pay-off. We get to see how excellent forensic detective work actually cracks the case, solves the crime and convicts the killer all within 30 minutes.

“To be able to take one of the original and most watched true crime series and give it a 2020 refresh is a great moment for our Crime + Investigation brand and its fans. A special thank you to our partners Gary Lico, series creator Paul Dowling Metstar and Turner HLN.”

Forensic Files was a ground-breaking forensic investigative series when it first launched in April 1996 under the name Medical Detectives. Covering a mix of high-profile killings, medical mysteries and tragic accidents, the show helped pioneer documentary style crime-science shows, examining how cutting-edge forensic evidence techniques like DNA, fiber analysis and blood spatters are used to track down cold-bloodied murderers, terrorists, and rapists.

As with the original series, Forensic Files II will continue to break down crime cases with the help of scientific evidence and improved forensic techniques, while using dramatised recreations to explain the story behind the cases. After a record-breaking performance in the US when it recently aired, the series has just been renewed for a further two seasons.

Double episodes of Forensic Files II will air each Thursday at 7.30pm from May 28, available to watch on Ci or stream on demand.

Viewers can also catch up on the original series, with all 14 seasons of Forensic Files now available to stream on-demand.
