TV Guide | Everything you need to know ahead of the premiere of 9Rush

Australia’s newest multichannel, 9Rush arrives this Sunday, and the launch will see a stack of Free-To-Air premieres including a new season of Top Gear. Here is everything you need to know.

9Rush will commence broadcasting at 7.00pm on Sunday, April 5. The channel will be designated as Channel 96 in metro areas. Regional viewers in some markets look set to miss the launch at this stage.

The new channel is being launched as a joint partnership with Discovery. Nine will operate the channel and represent ad sales and Discovery will act as the primary content partner accessing its extensive back catalogue of “real-life entertainment content”. 

A lot of content is brand new for free-to-air viewers, but has previously aired on Foxtel’s Discovery. 

Top Gear UK returns with all-new episodes, kicking off with Season 27. Australian fans have had a long wait to see these episodes, Season 28 has already aired in the UK, so 9Rush now has two series in the can.

There is plenty of new content with Man vs Wild, Running Wild with Bear Grylls, Diesel Brothers and Naked and Afraid. 

Cops UK: Body Cam Squad and Live PD move from 9Gem to 9Rush but remain in repeats for now. 

Street Outlaws, moves from 9GO to 9Rush with a brand new season. 

Only minus point for 9Rush is that the one main repeat in the line-up is Misfit Garage, previously seen on 9GO. Nine does have new episodes up their sleeve, so it would have been good to start with the new episodes first. 

Some shows appear to be playing out of order. I am using information from the Discovery run overseas, and Nine may be using a different catalogue production order.
