Tim McMillan is the new co-host of 7 news perth on weekends

Former 9 NEWS presenter TIM McMILLAN is joining 7 NEWS as presenter of its weekend news service.

He’ll join current presenter Angela Tsun who has been presenting the bulletin solo since 2015. TV Blackbox understands McMillan will begin this weekend if set changes can be made in time to accommodate an additional presenter.

At the end of 2017 McMillan was let go by Nine after a five year stint as co-host of its flagship weeknight news service after contract negotiations fell apart. At the time co-host Emmy Kubainski was also told her services were no longer required.

Well respected throughout the industry, McMillan had been with the Nine Network for a decade working in the Melbourne and Sydney newsrooms before returning to his home town of Perth.

Before moving to Perth, McMillan was an on-the-road reporter who was promoted to presenting duties in Sydney and Melbourne.

During that time, he covered major stories including the final Azaria Chamberlain inquest, the Beaconsfield Mine inquest, Black Saturday bushfires, the underworld trials of high profile gangland figures, Schappelle Corby’s release from Bali’s Kerobokan prison and numerous state and federal elections.

In August last year McMillan joined the Seven network to host a panel show looking at the issues affecting West Australian. The 30-minute locally produced program called Flashpoint launched in September. McMillan will continue to host the program on top of his new duties as weekend presenter.

    • Correct – was an interesting thing for them to say but Rob can only report on what he has been told. But you are absolutely right.

  1. Ugh!! Why are they persisting with this whole two presenter thing? Especially on the weekend. It is becoming outdated when you look at most of the other news bulletins around the country. Particularly the weekend ones. And if this is the succession plan for Seven Perth, you’ve lost me. Angela has been unlikable from day 1 for me. Any weekend bulletin is better without her presenting for me. And I’ve always disliked Tim from Nine. The most sensible way to go would be to go the solo route like Adelaide have recently when Sue retires and have Rick present on his own. I’m guessing she would go first since she is older than Rick. This is bad, bad for me

  2. Does Tim McMillan have adenoid problems? He always sounds as if his nose is completely blocked.
