Sad news today that actor Jessica Marais has pulled out of the Amazon Prime Video reboot of the Seven classic drama Packed to the Rafters.
An emailed statement from her management says:
“Jessica Marais has decided to step away from the new series BACK TO THE RAFTERS for personal reasons. She thanks everyone involved on the show for their ongoing support and love, especially her ‘Rafter’s family’, and sends them her very best wishes for the production.”
A spokesperson for Amazon said:
“Seven Studios and Amazon would like to sincerely thank Jessica for her work to date on Back to the Rafters and we fully support Jessica’s decision.”
This is the second production Marais has pulled out of in the last two years. She had been cast in a major role for Nine’s new drama BAD MOTHERS in 2018 and then stepped away, replaced at the last minute by Tess Haubrich. It was acknowledged at the time her mental health was suffering and she was seeking treatment.
The role that Jess was going to play in Bad Mothers was not the role that Melissa George played. Tess Haubrich took over the role that Jess was meant to play.
Heya Scooter – thanks heaps. All fixed up now.
I loved her in The Wrong Girl. Was hoping for another season but sadly Jessica became ill.
