FOXTEL has denied a recent media report indicating the pay-tv broadcaster has commissioned new episodes of the cult hit reality series Real Housewives of Melbourne.
A report by The Daily Mail yesterday claimed FOXTEL had ‘greenlit’ a long-awaited fifth season of the show, the ‘news’ was quickly shared on social media by both eager fans and former cast members including Lydia Schiavello.
However, it appears fans should not be expecting new episodes in the near future, with a senior spokesperson for FOXTEL telling TV Blackbox;
“No decision has been made on a new season of RHOM.”
Real Housewives of Melbourne last aired on FOXTEL in February 2018. Since then the show has been clouded in mystery with the pay-tv broadcaster refusing to provide a definitive statement on the future of the show.
The Daily Mail article quoted an unnamed source stating;
“Some of the women have already been told unofficially that they’ll be returning, so they’ve been doing everything to make sure they’re camera-ready,”
“Lydia Schiavello is definitely coming back, that’s why she’s in such great shape right now – she wants to look her best for the show.”
