It may have been a frustrating loss for Aussie Cricket team, but the Seven Network and Foxtel are celebrating five days of strong audiences for the opening Test Match of the Summer.
The First Test match of the new broadcast agreement attracted mostly positive reviews from viewers whom enjoyed the new commentary teams, and improved camera technology.
Seven’s coverage attracted a daytime audience share of approx 50%, well above predictions. While the ratings were slightly down on last year, it’s difficult to compare with past seasons, due to past Adelaide Test matches being held at night and including Ashes series.
Seven’s Chief Revenue Officer, Kurt Burnette celebrated the ratings telling DeciderTV
“We are thrilled with the ratings of day one, which have surpassed our forecasts.
“Seven reached 2.67 million Australians and secured a 53% commercial share (on day 1) of daytime viewing in metro areas.
“Our production and commentary teams have hit it for six, proving once again that no-one does sport like 7Sport.
“And this is just the beginning – we still have the Day/Night tests and men’s Big Bash to come. Roll on summer!”
Foxtel was also happy with ratings for its opening Test coverage. Due in part to a confidentially agreement with Cricket Australia, the pay-tv company is unable to provide audience data for streaming platforms.

We’re looking forward to bringing cricket to our customers like never before for the rest of the summer, on Foxtel, and streaming via Kayo, Foxtel Now, Foxtel GO and the Fox Cricket App.”
This Friday will see the Australians head west for the Second Test against India desperate to level the series at Optus Stadium in Perth after a gripping loss in the opening match.
Australia’s batsman will be aiming to improve their performance in their bid to win back the Border-Gavaskar trophy in this four-match Test series.
The Indians leave Adelaide full of confidence following their 31-run win as they aim to win their first ever Test series in Australia.
