Bryan Brown, Phoebe Tonkin and Ryan Corr celebrated the World Premiere of their upcoming Stan Original Series BLOOM in Sydney last night alongside co-stars Tessa Rose, Dan Henshall, creator Glen Dolman and director of the final 3 episodes, Mat King.
Bloom is a mystery drama about the scarcity of time and the choices we make. Beyond the impulses of youth and the regrets of age lies a secret. One year after a devastating flood kills five locals in an idyllic country town, a mysterious new plant appears with the power to restore youth. It’s a gift powerful beyond wildest imaginings. A phenomenon so formidable that attempting to harness its potency means re-evaluating everything that’s important. It’s a miracle some will kill to keep secret.
The event, hosted by Matt Okine (Stan Original Series The Other Guy), was held at Bar Machiavelli in Rushcutters Bay, Sydney and was attended by a roster of talented Australian stars of Stan Original Series’ including Lachy Hulme (Romper Stomper), Lily Sullivan (Romper Stomper), AACTA nominee Markella Kavenagh (Romper Stomper), Nicole Chamoun (Romper Stomper), Julian Maroun (Romper Stomper), Laura Wheelwright (Wolf Creek S2), Elsa Cocquerel (Wolf Creek S2), Elijah Williams (Wolf Creek S2) and Jake Ryan (Wolf Creek S1) who helped launch the latest addition to the Stan Original stable which will premiere on New Year’s Day.
Two-time Oscar nominee Jacki Weaver (Silver Linings Playbook, Animal Kingdom), Bryan Brown (The Light Between Oceans, Red Dog true Blue, Gods of Egypt), Phoebe Tonkin (The Originals, Safe Harbour, The Vampire Diaries, The Affair) and Ryan Corr (Holding the Man, Hacksaw Ridge) are joined by an outstanding ensemble cast including Daniel Henshall (Okja, The Babadook, Snowtown), Sam Reid (’71, Prime Suspect 1973, The Railway Man), Genevieve Morris (Stan Original No Activity, That’s Not My Dog!), Anne Charleston (Neighbours, Emmerdale, Prisoner Cell Block H), Terry Norris (Jack Irish, The Dressmaker, Killing Time), Amali Golden (Stan Original Series The Other Guy), Nikki Shiels (The Eye of the Storm, Neighbours), Tessa Rose (Glitch, Cleverman), John Stanton (Dr Blake Mysteries, Beneath Hill 60) and Rod Mullinar (Reef Doctors, Dead Calm).
Bloom is created by Glen Dolman, who first received critical acclaim for Hawke and has since worked on television shows High Life and the forthcoming The Ark and the Ardvaark. The series is produced by Sue Seeary (Love Child, House Husbands, Bite Club) and shot by AACTA-winning cinematographer Geoffrey Hall (Stan Original Series Wolf Creek, Red Dog, Chopper). Parts 1-3 of Bloom have been directed by acclaimed film director John Curran (Tracks, Chappaquiddick, Praise), with Mat King (Pine Gap, Dr Who, Law & Order: UK) directing Parts 3-6.
