The Nekton family are back in all new daring adventures! The search for lost Lemuria continues aboard the state of the art submarine, the Aronnax, as the Nektons come face to face with leviathans, explore treacherous sunken ruins, encounter fantastic creatures, and clash with underwater pirates!

The Deep is based on a graphic novel series created by Australian comic book author, screenwriter and playwright, Tom Taylor (Wolverine, Injustice: Gods Among Us) and illustrated by James Brouwer (Justice League Beyond).

The series which airs in Australia on ABCME, is now available in over 130 territories worldwide. The series is rated #1 in its age bracket across the UK, and has gained a huge following on Netflix in the US. The Deep is a co-production between Australia-based A Stark Production (scripts, design and music) and Canada-based DHX Media (animation, voices and postproduction).

With season two, the stakes are raised as a new rival rises in the deep. The mysterious young ‘Alpheus’ also seeks Lemuria, threatening everything the Nektons have spent generations searching for. The excitement continues as sleeping giants of the sea, ‘Monumentials’, begin to wake across the world.

On season two, co-creator and art director, James Brouwer says, “We’ve raised the stakes, the thrills, and the creature count. Now it’s time to release… Season 2 of The Deep! Ant has a Nemesis! Jeffrey drives a fishbowl! Fontaine is a… mermaid? We’re delighted to continue the adventures of the Nektons – climb on board with us!”

On the success of the Deep, co-creator and head writer, Tom Taylor, had this to say, “When we created these underwater adventurers here in Australia, I don’t think James or I could possibly imagine how big a fan base the Nektons would have around the world. These guys once only existed our heads, and now they’re translated into Arabic, Mandarin and Icelandic.”

Fans of The Deep can also download the first mobile game based on the show, The Deep: Sea of Shadows, launched in the App Store and Google Play this month.

The Deep airs daily on ABC ME at 6.10pm
