Footy QLD is a new program giving viewers an in-depth look at Queensland’s NRL teams – premieres this Sunday at 1.00pm on Channel Nine.
Footy QLD features rugby league greats Gary Belcher and Scott Sattler hosting, along with Scott Prince and Brent Tate providing insight as guest panellists
The program will be filmed in Queensland’s Channel Nine studios at Mt Coot-Tha, with the boys discussing all the weekly NRL news and providing analysis of the footy action especially from a Queensland perspective. Each week there will also be interviews with some of the game’s biggest names and most passionate fans.
The launch of the show comes after the Fox League channel put a focus on Queensland Rugby League with specialist primetime programming.
Channel Nine Queensland’s Production and Programming Manager, Geoff Cooper, said: “There is no doubt Queenslanders have a thirst for more locally focused footy content. We are confident Footy QLD will provide top-class NRL insight and entertainment for our viewers and thrilled to be broadcasting this exciting program from our Mt Coot-tha studios.”
Working alongside Nine Queensland is the production company Crocmedia, with Footy QLD the latest program in their expanding stable of parochial sports TV shows.
Crocmedia Executive Director, Chris Giannopoulos, said: “We are expecting big things from this program. Queenslanders are some of the most engaged footy fans in the country and there is real reason for excitement as the NRL season reaches its pointy end.”
Crocmedia has assembled an experienced and informative all-Queensland panel of NRL experts for the program, including co-host Gary Belcher, who said: “I am thrilled to be on board working with such a great team. There’ll be no shortage of lively discussion.
“With the Brisbane Broncos and North Queensland Cowboys looking like certain finalists we’re looking forward to debating and dissecting each team’s finals fortunes.”
