The Nine Network has confirmed The NRL Footy Show will return to a traditional Thursday night timeslot from August 25
The NRL Footy Show will now air immediately after Thursday Night Football games, the move comes after the program has endured a disastrous ratings year airing on Wednesday nights.
Nine moved The Footy Show to Wednesday nights this year to make way for the introduction of Thursday Night Football. Nine had hoped the network would benefit from 3 nights of NRL programming, but pressure from NRL shows on Fox Sports has seen Nine’s audiences decline.
In May, this website revealed disagreements within Nine about The NRL Footy Show, particularly from southern states who were saddled with a range of poor quality alternative programming.
Glenn Pallister, Executive Producer of The NRL Footy Show said:
“We are thrilled to be ‘coming home’ to Thursday nights as we make the run into one of the most exciting finals series in memory. I’m sure our fantastic and loyal viewers will be just as excited,”
