The Nine Network has confirmed that its new reality franchise The Hot Plate will premiere on Tuesday July 28 at 7.30pm and continue on Wednesday and Thursday nights
The sales pitch for this program is “Unsung local restaurant heroes from around the country doing battle over dinner in order to win a $100,000 prize and realise their food dream.”
Whether Australia is ready for yet another cooking reality show remains to be seen, and of course Seven is also preparing to launch its own program Restaurant Revolution.
The teams in Hot Plate will be judged by their fellow competitors on all aspects of the restaurant experience.
Joining them will be judges, acclaimed Chef Scott Pickett and restaurant critic Tom Parker Bowles.
The worst performing teams in The Hot Plate will face elimination. Those who survive will have the chance to transform their restaurants and take their business to the next level.
The teams who’ve most impressed the critics will lead their staff in catering for a full restaurant in an epic finals round. Ultimately, one of them will be crowned the best restaurant and winner of The Hotplate.
The Hot Plate teams:
Bird’s Nest (QLD) Emi and Marie
Chez Pascal (NSW) Phillipe and Pascal
Christina’s (WA) Christina and Tania
Duck Duck Moose (WA) Conrad and Liam
Rocksalt (NSW) Aron and Vanessa
Wings and Fins (VIC) Lauren “Lozz” and Nola “Nols”
The Hotplate: Tuesday July 28 at 7.30pm, Wednesday July 29 at 7.30pm and Thursday July 30 at 7.30pm on Nine.
