Host of The Thursday Night Sport Show, Mel McLaughlin has won the Person of Sporting Words award at this week’s Women’s Health Women in Sport Awards.
Held in Sydney, the award ceremony celebrated and acknowledged the achievements of Australian women across the sporting industry, with Olympic Champion Sally Pearson taking out the 2014 Women’s Health Sports Women of the Year award.
It has been a big 12 months for McLaughlin whom has has hosted the networks coverage of Big Bash Cricket as well as Commonwealth Games and Winter Olympics.
Fresh from the event, Mel Mclaughlin and co-hosts Sam Mac and Mark Howard are set to welcome special guest Mark Webber to the The Thursday Night Sport Show this week.
The former Formula One star joins us fresh from a podium finish in the World Endurance Championship in Japan on Sunday and is in town for the 2014 Tissot Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix this weekend, which will broadcast live on TEN.
In a career that saw him drive in 215 races for Minardi, Jaguar, Williams and Red Bull Racing, Webber won nine Grands Prix, took 13 pole positions and finished on the podium on 42 occasions.
Webber will also be joined by TEN Sport’s Matt White to talk Bathurst, Formula One, MotoGP and all things motorsport as we head into the pointy end of the racing season.
