Sunday marks the eleventh and final day of competition at the XX Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland. Eleven Gold Medals will be decided today across 11 events in six sports, before Scotland bids farewell to the Games in a spectacular Closing Ceremony, handing over the baton to the Gold Coast for the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
Netball and Men’s Hockey are the ticket events for the day, with the Diamonds seeking their first Commonwealth Games Netball Gold Medal since 2002. In Hockey, the Kookaburras are aiming for their fifth straight Commonwealth Games Gold Medal.
Greg Rust hosts Glasgow Live from 5.00pm (AEST) on ONE bringing viewers the Women’s Cycling Road Race as well as the medal matches in the Men’s, Women’s and Mixed Badminton, the Men’s Hockey Bronze Medal match and the Women’s Netball Bronze Medal match.
In a special presentation, live coverage continues on ONE with the Men’s Hockey Gold Medal match from 9.15pm (AEST) where the Kookaburras will be hoping to continue their Commonwealth Games winning streak.
Glasgow Live on TEN with Mel McLaughlin begins at 9.30pm (AEST) offering the greatest Netball match live as the Diamonds aim to become Commonwealth Champions in the Gold Medal Match.
Also on TEN’s Glasgow Live, the Men’s Cycling Road Race commences from 9.00pm AEST, and Gold Medals will be presented in Squash and Badminton.
Coverage on TEN finishes at 2.30am (AEST) but resumes again at 5.30am (AEST) for the Closing Ceremony hosted by Mel McLaughlin and Matt White with Leisel Jones and Ian Thorpe from Glasgow, with commentary by Nicole Livingstone and Gordon Bray.
Glasgow’s Athletics venue, Hampden Park will be transformed for the Closing Ceremony, with over 2000 people taking part as Scotland bids farewell to the 71 territories and nations of the Commonwealth.
Australian superstar Kylie Minogue is the headline act at the Closing Ceremony. Singing in front of an audience of 40,000 people live at Hampden Park, with millions watching all over the world, her performance heralds the Games’ next destination, Australia in 2018.
As the Commonwealth flag is handed over to the Gold Coast, ready for the 2018 Games, Jessica Mauboy will also perform. World Champion surfer Mick Fanning and Gold Medal hurdler Sally Pearson will represent the Gold Coast.
