After a splendid six days in pink for Orica-GreenEdge’s Michael Matthews and another three for countryman Cadel Evans, it’s safe to say that the first two weeks of the Giro d’Italia has belonged to Australia. Throw in Michael Rogers’ victory overnight and it’s been a Grand Tour to remember for the Aussies.

With Matthews now out of the race nursing some sore bones after a heavy crash on Sunday – and some believing he has earned his stripes for the Tour de France – all eyes will be on Evans as he looks to claim his second Grand Tour.

Evans currently leads the GC standings by 57 seconds over Colombia’s Rigoberto Uran, with Poland’s Rafal Majka a further 13 seconds behind. LIVE coverage continues tonight with the all-important Stage 12 time trial from Barbaresco to Barolo. Can Evans build upon his lead?
