While Season 4 is yet to premiere on Australian TV, The shows creator Julian Fellows has hinted the series may be coming to an end soon. While reassuring fans that there would be a fifth series of Downton he added: “I don’t know yet if there is a season six, but it’s not going to go on forever. It won’t be Perry Mason.”
Fellows has been commissioned to write a new American drama called The Gilded Age but told The Wall Street Journal that work on the programme would not start until Downton had come to an end.
“It’s for NBC Universal and it will happen when Downton finishes because I just couldn’t do both at once.”
Meanwhile the shows star Michelle Dockery’s has already found her next TV role be after portraying Lady Mary on Downton. she’ll be trading in her dainty demeanor for a tougher attitude in a modern-day cop drama.
