2GB Sydney breakfast host Ben Fordham has landed an exclusive interview with Ben Roberts-Smith, whose arrest and criminal charges have brought renewed attention to allegations surrounding his military service.
The two-and-a-half-hour conversation will air across two mornings on 2GB in Sydney, with highlights also rolling out across 3AW in Melbourne, 4BC in Brisbane and 6PR in Perth before the full interview lands on YouTube.
Titled War Hero or War Criminal? The Ben Roberts-Smith Exclusive, the interview will cover Roberts-Smith’s childhood, family, service in Afghanistan and Victoria Cross, alongside the war crimes allegations, his defamation case, arrest, bail and fight to clear his name.

Roberts-Smith was arrested in April and charged with five counts of the war crime of murder over alleged killings in Afghanistan between 2009 and 2012, which he denies, with his next court appearance listed for December 8.
The former soldier also has a background in television management, having been appointed General Manager of Seven Queensland in 2015 before standing aside from the role in 2021 while focusing on his defamation case against Nine newspapers.
Fordham said he was looking forward to sharing the interview, describing it as one of the biggest he had conducted.
“It’s one of the biggest I’ve ever done and I’m looking forward to sharing it.”
Tapt Media CEO Tom Malone said the interview demonstrated the company’s strategy of combining traditional radio with digital distribution, allowing the conversation to reach audiences beyond its broadcast network.
“It’s a powerful combination that puts local broadcast front and centre, but seizes every opportunity for global distribution.”
