Back in July, TV Blackbox brought you the news that a casting notice had appeared for a local version of reality competition series, Tough As Nails and now we can confirm where it’s headed…
TV Blackbox has learnt, via the T&C’s available on the casting page, that the series is intended to be broadcast on Network 10 and likely set to be announced next week at their annual Upfront events which kick off on Tuesday.
This year, Paramount ANZ (10) are running with an intimate upfront event at their Pyrmont Headquarters, which echoes a similar style to that of it’s parent company Paramount and their CBS network in the US, followed by similar events around the country.
The casting notice for the series states:
We’re looking for hard-working Aussies who are TOUGH thanks to their jobs. Essential Workers who use their hands and physical skills to keep our country running. Men and women who are the backbone of Australia.
TOUGHNESS COMES IN ALL SHAPES AND SIZES… Tradies, Firies, Defence Force, Landscapers, Mechanics, Farmers, SES and more… A competition like no other, with real work-site challenges where everyone takes home a cash prize!
Prove to yourself and Australia that you are the best of the best!
Given the series originates from CBS in the states, it’s no surprise that the show has been given the greenlight down under given the common ownership. It also follows other similar commissions such as Australian Survivor and The Amazing Race Australia, and more recent failures including The Challenge Australia and The Real Love Boat Australia.
As Senior Editor of TV Blackbox Kevin Perry earlier reported, the original US series, brought to life by Emmy Award-winning producer Phil Keoghan and his co-producer and wife, Louise Keoghan, has already run for five seasons.Â
It appears casting for the series is still open, so if you’re interested in applying to be on the series you can apply here.
Was this axed?
Hi Ben – not that we’re aware of. 10 have only just announced it for next year!
