Channel 7 has confirmed its esteemed judging panel for the much-anticipated return of Australian Idol in 2024. Notably, the iconic Marcia Hines is set to make a grand comeback.

She will be seated alongside radio heavyweight Kyle Sandilands and the award-winning singer Amy Shark.

This week’s filming activities in Sydney suggest that, at least for the initial audition phases, only the trio will take the judging seats.

Previous judges, Harry Connick Jr. and Meghan Trainor, have been reportedly ruled out for this upcoming season. Whispers in the media corridors hint at the potential involvement of Adam Lambert once the series advances to the performance episodes.

Channel 7 is expected to officially confirm the full judging line-up at its Upfronts event later in the month.

As for the hosting roles, Ricki-Lee Coulter and Scott Tweedie are confirmed to take the helm. Raw auditions commenced as early as August, with the promise of electrifying talent set to grace our screens.

Audience filming is slated for the coming week in Sydney. An exclusive audition is also on the horizon at the Roslyn Packer Theatre later this month.

Notably, Australian Idol has announced two significant events this October. The first, termed as “Audition Lineup & Welcome the Judges”, is scheduled for next Wednesday morning at Allianz Stadium, Moore Park. Hopefuls looking to snag a spot on the show can audition during this event. Additionally, attendees can expect entertainment segments, including live broadcasts and the opportunity to win cash via the Kyle and Jackie O Cash Cock event starting 7:45 am.

By 8:20 am, attendees will participate in forming a grand line-up, which will be captured by drones, culminating in a warm welcome to judges Kyle Sandilands, Amy Shark, and Marcia Hines, as well as hosts Ricki-Lee and Scott Tweedie. An enticing offer is that attendees secure a guaranteed priority ticket for any 2024 live show, including the grand finale.

The second event, dubbed “Idol Showcase”, is a unique chance to witness the newest talents during their auditions. It’s slated for Friday, 27th October at the Roslyn Packer Theatre, Walsh Bay.

Those keen on attending can register for tickets. For groups larger than six, a direct email is required for application. While interstate applications are accepted, the channel advises against finalising any travel or accommodation bookings without ticket confirmation. Special arrangements for accessibility seating are in place and should be indicated during ticket registration.

Tickets are available here.
