The Foxtel Group has been forced to temporarily delay the launch of the MSNBC News Channel on its platforms due to a last-minute technical hitch.
Foxtel had previously advertised it would launch the popular 24-7 news channel on its pay-tv and Flash streaming platforms on Wednesday, March 1st.
However, a last-minute technical hurdle has forced Foxtel to delay its plans.
A spokesperson for Foxtel confirmed the launch glitch telling TV Blackbox:
“The launch of MSNBC on Foxtel and Flash has been slightly delayed. We will shortly confirm a new launch date and look forward to bringing the breath of MSNBC news content to our customers very soon.”
TV Blackbox understands the delayed launch has been caused due to technical issues with MSNBC’s Australian playout system.
The channel, which has been available in Australia for Fetch TV subscribers for several years, is now expected to launch later this month on the Foxtel and Flash platforms.
While MSNBC has been delayed, Foxtel advises the NBC News Now channel will still launch on March 1st for Flash subscribers.
I must say seeing the worlds “Fox” and “MSNBC” in the same sentence does fry my brain ever so slightly. Despite Foxtel being somewhat different to Fox News etal.
