Naturally, everything else was affected because FOOTY.

Nine land a sizeable win with State of Origin Game 1 Pre-Match (983,000) and State of Origin Game 1 Live (1,771,000), with the latter managing to slide into one of the lowest-rating games in history…Nine were head-and-shoulders winners for the night though (a whopping 40% share!). A reasonable audience hung in for State Of Origin Game 1 Post-Match (634,000), though Travel Guides NZ (72,000) was left to its own devices after that.
Nine first in both primary (40%) and network (47.6%) rankings.

Seven lean into Home & Away (440,000) heavily again as their best for the night. This was followed by Big Brother Australia (255,000) as another casualty, after which the night muddled around because of the scheduling of The Front Bar (229,000 (142,000 MEL)). This ensured Britain’s Got Talent (127,000) and Ramsay’s 24 Hours To Hell And Back (31,000) really didn’t do much at all.
Seven second in both primary (13.3%) and network (18.8%) rankings.

Sliding into a neat-if-distant second place 7:30 (489,000) and the season premiere of Gruen (491,000) make for a solid double on the ABC. Then the otherwise nude-friendly
The Weekly With Charlie Pickering (451,000) manages to deliver reasonable numbers given the competition, as does You Can’t Ask That (253,000). A repeat of Would I Lie To You? (162,000) and Why Didn’t They Ask Evans (36,000) complete Aunty’s evening.
ABC third in primary (10.4%) and tied third in network (13.9%) rankings.

The Project (257,000 6:30pm; 404,000 7pm) was always going to be the major casualty for 10, however MasterChef Australia (437,000) managed to maintain some dignity. Five Bedrooms (219,000) slips for its second ep, while US dramas Bull (118,000) and This Is Us (57,000) offer new eps in the late evening.
10 fourth in primary (9%) and tied third in network (13.9%) rankings.

SBS’s offering stood up thus: Tony Robinson: WWII By Drone (128,000), Thatcher and Reagan (84,000), and Cobra (37,000).
SBS fifth in both primary (3.1%) and network (5.8%) rankings.
