EXCLUSIVE | FAM TIME finally airs and all the programming news not mentioned at the 7 Upfronts

The 7 Upfronts are all over for another year with plenty of excitement, a slew of renewals and just a couple of surprises.

The upfront event is suppose to be a highlights event only, meaning not all shows get a mention of their status.

For the television fanatics, TV Blackbox has a further update on a range of shows that weren’t mentioned at the recent Seven event.

This website can now reveal the long-awaited Australian comedy series Fam Time will finally air before the end of this year. Created by Michael Horrocks, the series centres around “Australia’s most post-modern modern family wrapped in fibre optic cables and swiping for love, streaming for acceptance, posting for purpose…”. Fam Time was originally part of the 2019 7Upfronts presentation but never aired in 2020.

Similarly, Mates on a Mission was plugged for the 2019 year but never made it to air. COVID did affect production, so Seven will air what footage they have. The series will feature Shane Jacobson, Todd McKenney, Kris Smith and Brian Taylor taking on challenges from across the globe to raise awareness for different causes including mental health, heart disease and bowel cancer.

Holey Moley Australia hits the pause button as COVID restrictions halt international travel. Seven need the investment in other countries to use the course for their own home formats to make the show financially justifiable.

RFDS has a number of factors to be considered before season 2 could be considered for a renewal. The show’s first season completed production over 12 months ago, meaning cast options may have expired. Seven will be looking at international sales for the drama series as well as ratings and demographic break downs.
