NEVER LET ME GO

This Sunday Night… a miraculous tale of survival. It’s the story of a seven-year-old boy, his dad and a family friend who took on the Pacific Ocean and won. The group was on an overnight fishing trip off Queensland’s Sunshine Coast. What happened next is the stuff of nightmares. In the middle of the night, their tinnie started taking on water and eventually sank. Julian, his dad, Maike, and their fishing buddy Stephen Jeacocke tread water for seven hours with just a pair of plastic buckets to cling to. By the time rescuers found them, Julian was unconscious and near death. In a Sunday Night exclusive, Julian Hohnen tells his incredible story of survival to senior correspondent Matt Doran. And you’ll hear the extraordinary lengths one man went to in order to save his son.

WOODSTOCK

It’s hard to believe 50 years has passed since half a million groovy, young music lovers descended on a farm in upper New York State and created history. Woodstock defined a generation. It was August 1969 and the Vietnam War and the civil rights movement divided America. But over three magical, rain-soaked days, all that mattered was music, flower power and free love. Huddled on that hillside amphitheatre, festival goers witnessed the likes of Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Who, Joe Cocker and Jimi Hendrix give performances that would become legendary. And as Sunday Night’s Angela Cox discovered, for many Woodstock remains the soundtrack of their lives.

This edition of SUNDAY NIGHT: TRUE STORIES hosted by Melissa Doyle airs on Sunday at 8.45pm on Seven and 7plus.
