Julia Bechly (Maria Angelico) is a 30-year-old university dropout whose main job is caring for her dying father, IVF pioneer Julius Bechly (Barry Otto). Her life is turned on its head when Julius makes a scandalous admission: his award-winning career as a fertility specialist was propped up by the use of his own sperm. As a secret donor, he is the unofficial father to potentially hundreds of his patients’ children.

Printing a public confession in a national newspaper, Julius’ revelation triggers a cascade of family dramas, awkward conversations and epiphanies across the country.

Julia’s overdeveloped sense of responsibility leads her to a fateful decision: rather than resisting the flood of siblings rushing towards her, she welcomes the strangers with open arms. But is she getting far more than she bargained for?

Within a sea of brothers, Julia learns that she has only two sisters: troubled children’s television star, Roxy Karibas (Lucy Durack), and belligerent lawyer, Edie Flanagan (Antonia Prebble).

Growing up, Edie and Julia knew one another, but they were always rivals rather than friends. Now a lawyer specialising in class action law, Edie is battling through a struggling marriage, with a few of her own secrets buried beneath the surface.

Roxy is a children’s entertainer and the star of a popular television show. Desperate to break away from her princess image, a stint of reckless behaviour lands her in rehabilitation.

While Julia relishes the prospect of gaining new family members, Roxy senses a fresh career opportunity and Edie cannot see past the crime that has been committed.
