Four decades after suffering through the world’s most excruciatingly awkward royal interview, His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales returns with an entertaining sketch which was written specifically for the 2 part COUNTDOWN – Do Yourself A Favour documentary to air on Sunday 16 and 23 November at 7:40pm on ABC.
Given his unforgettable interview with Ian “Molly” Meldrum in 1977, The Prince kindly wrote and recorded this entertaining and extremely warm-hearted 40th birthday greeting in which he good-naturedly “roasts” Molly’s stumbling presentation technique.
“We’re absolutely thrilled His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales has taken time out from his Royal duties to help us celebrate COUNTDOWN’s birthday with us. His sketch highlights HRH’s keen sense of humour and the obvious affection he has for Molly and COUNTDOWN,” says ABC Director of Television, Richard Finlayson.
“In hindsight, the original footage was very special and often funny. We hope this clip becomes as treasured as the original.”
