UKTV Presents the 2013 Royal Variety Performance Express from the UK
UKTV premieres this year’s Royal Variety Performance express from the UK on Wednesday, December 11 at 8:30pm.
The star studded spectacular, hosted by award-winning comedian and actor John Bishop, stars Grammy Award-winner Mary J. Blige and Australia’s very own BAFTA Award-winner Dame Edna Everage, who makes herself at home in the Royal Box next to The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall.
Also taking part in what promises to be an unforgettable evening of music, theatre, comedy and dance are: Gary Barlow, delivering an exclusive performance; BRIT and MOBO Award-winning singer Jessie J, making her Royal Variety debut; hip-hop duo Rizzle Kicks; singer and presenter Olly Murs; jazz singer Caro Emerald; legendary duo Chas & Dave, who are marking their 50th anniversary; Welsh opera singer Bryn Terfel; and ice-skating champions Torvill & Dean, who will soon be celebrating the 30th anniversary of their record-breaking Olympic gold medal performance of Ravel’s Bolero.
Comedy comes from Jimmy Carr, madcap Irish stand-up Jason Byrne, affable comedian and actor Hal Cruttenden and – fresh from a successful run at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival – the award winning Seann Walsh.
Also entertaining the audience at the London Palladium are Britain’s Got Talent winners Attraction; the cast of the hit West End musicalCharlie and The Chocolate Factory; Gareth Malone and his new choir Voices; current Strictly Come Dancing champion Flavia Cacace and the cast of Dance ‘Til Dawn; plus rising UK star, John Newman, whose summer hit single Love Me Again topped the charts in 20 countries. Rounding out the night’s entertainment are world-first exclusive perfomances from Harry Hill’s I Can’t Sing – The X Factor Musical and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical Stephen Ward.
