Sir Tony Robinson is teaming with Australian studio Radar Studios for a new history project, Rewrites History, spanning YouTube, television and other digital platforms.
The partnership forms part of Radar Studios’ new Originals slate, following the recent combination of WTFN Group’s Radar and Fred Media businesses under Radar Studios, led by Derek Dyson.
Rewrites History will launch with a dedicated YouTube channel later this year, featuring 12 x 30-minute episodes alongside a six-part television series, with Radar Studios set to introduce the TV series to international buyers at MIPCOM next month.
The series will see Robinson revisit defining events from ancient history through to the modern era, exploring the people, politics, rivalries, accidents and moments of chance that helped shape the world.

Each story will also look at a pivotal moment when history could have taken a different course, exploring what might have happened next. The series will cover events ranging from the Spanish Armada to the advent of Covid-19.
The project continues Robinson’s more than 15-year relationship with WTFN, including Tony Robinson’s Time Walks and Tony Robinson’s Tour of Duty, while Radar Studios also operates the Time Travels history channel on YouTube, which has more than 40,000 subscribers.
Robinson says the opportunity to work with Radar Studios on something new was an exciting extension of their long-running relationship.
“I’ve known the team at WTFN for more than 15 years and we’ve made some terrific television together, so the opportunity to do something genuinely new with Radar Studios was irresistible.”
He says the series will explore the moments where history could have unfolded differently.
“It’s actually full of tiny moments where everything hung in the balance. One different decision, one mistake, even a gust of wind and you have to rewrite history.”

Radar Studios Chief Commercial Officer Derek Dyson says Robinson is helping kick off the company’s Originals strategy.
“There could hardly be a better partner than Tony to lead off our originals strategy. He is one of the most recognisable and trusted faces in popular history, with an extraordinary ability to make the past entertaining, accessible and relevant to audiences around the world.”
Dyson says Rewrites History reflects the new studio’s approach to developing content across multiple platforms from the outset.
“Instead of making a series and then deciding where it might live, we are developing IP from the outset with multiple audiences, platforms and distribution opportunities in mind.”
Radar Studios was formed in September 2026 as a new business within WTFN, bringing together Fred Media and Radar, which previously operated as separate businesses within the group.
The studio develops, funds, acquires and creates content for broadcast, streaming, FAST, YouTube and other digital platforms.
