Guy Sebastian’s exit from The Voice: new album and worldwide tour coming.

Guy Sebastian has announced he will not return as a coach on The Voice Australia in 2025, choosing instead to focus on the long-awaited release of his new album and a return to live performances.

Sebastian broke the news to fans via Instagram on Wednesday, expressing his excitement to re-engage with live audiences after several years prioritising television commitments.

In his post, Sebastian reflected warmly on his six-season tenure on The Voice, calling his time on the show “the best gig ever” and praising the camaraderie he shared with his fellow coaches.

“I have made the decision to take a break from the best red chair on the planet,”“

It’s been six amazing years as a coach and it’s honestly been the best gig ever!”

Sebastian, a seven-time ARIA Award winner and winner of the inaugural Australian Idol in 2003, emphasised his desire to reconnect with fans and focus on the music that remains central to his career.

“I am busy planning shows in Australia & worldwide & I am really looking forward to getting out and connecting with you all there,”

“For too long now, I have been reading comments from you asking when I will be visiting your town/country & it’s high time I come and visit!”

The singer-songwriter hinted at the significant effort behind his upcoming album, which he has been developing for the past four years. “I’ve poured everything I have into it, so I need to pay respect to that effort & the art I’ve created,” he shared.

Sebastian also took a moment to congratulate this year’s The Voice winner, Reuben De Melo, and expressed gratitude for the chance to work with emerging Australian talent on the show.

“Congrats to Reuben De Melo on his win on The Voice this year, SO deserved,”

“The best thing about the show is how positive it is & how much care and passion goes into making it a safe place for artists.”

In a playful closing, Sebastian hinted at a possible future return to the program, joking,

“Whoever has the audacity to take my chair, don’t get too comfortable… I will wrestle for it back with zero dignity when I’m ready to return.”

Brook Hall, Seven Network’s Chief Content Officer, also praised Sebastian’s contributions, calling him a “powerhouse coach” whose “mentorship and command of artistry has been inspirational to our Voice artists and viewers alike.” Hall went on to thank Sebastian for his energy and passion, noting that the full coaching line-up for the show’s 2025 season will be revealed in the coming months.
