Foxtel has unveiled plans to revamp its pricing structure and channel packages, a move that has already come into effect for new subscribers and will extend to existing customers from the 1st of March.

This restructuring aims to streamline Foxtel’s offerings by consolidating the ‘Foxtel Plus’ and ‘Favourites’ channel packages into a single, more comprehensive ‘Foxtel Plus’ basic package. This revamped package will grant subscribers access to a selection of 62 channels.

The consolidation results in the introduction of a new ‘Foxtel Plus’ package, priced at $70 monthly. Additionally, customers have the option to include a Netflix subscription in their bundle, raising the cost to $85 per month.

Prior to these changes, subscribers had the flexibility to opt for ‘Foxtel Plus’ at $52 per month and add the ‘Favourites’ package for an extra $20 monthly fee.

In a welcome shift, Foxtel has decided to abolish the previously contentious extra charges for High Definition (HD) viewing and multiscreen support, incorporating these features at no additional cost within the basic ‘Foxtel Plus’ package.

However, the adjustments will also lead to the discontinuation of the Movie Thrillers and Sci-Fi entertainment channels from the Foxtel platform from the 1st of March.

The pricing modifications extend to Foxtel’s Sport and Movie packages as well. The Sport package will experience a price increase from $25 to $30 per month, while the Movies package will see its cost rise from $20 to $25 per month.

The changes mean the minimum cost for a Foxtel customer to access sport content (Sport+Foxtel Plus packages) now sits at $100 per month compared to the previous $72 per month.

For those seeking the ultimate viewing experience, the premium package, which encompasses all of Foxtel’s services—including Sport, Movies, Netflix, Multiscreen, and HD—will be available for $140 monthly.

A spokesperson for the Foxtel Group confirmed the changes telling TV Blackbox,

“We are simplifying our packaging and pricing bundles for new and existing customers.

“From 1 February 2024, we are making it easier for our new customers to select the content and services they’d like to access as part of their Foxtel subscription.

“From 1 March 2024, we are extending this simplification to our existing subscribers, upgrading all existing packages with exclusive best-value package options.

“This is the first time in four years we have reviewed our Foxtel package options. The simplification will see our current and past packages and pricing options move to more focused content options based on the popular categories of entertainment, movies and sport.

Additional features such as Netflix, multi-screen and HD will be bundled into the packages creating more value and removing complexity.

“The price changes associated with this simplification will ensure we can continue to invest in delivering the best content and product innovations for our subscribers.”

“While there is no longer a dedicated SciFi channel, the breadth and depth of our content offering means customers can enjoy the genre through shows on Fox8, Fox Showcase and across our Movies channels.

“With regards to Movies Thriller, our customers can easily find ‘Thriller’ movies amongst the 1000+ movies available to stream on demand, and enjoy them featured across the 14 dedicated Movies channels on our service.”

  1. Why anyone pays for Foxtel is beyond me. You’re paying for ads, and repetitive ads at that! Those life insurance ads are pathetic. Just get Binge, it’s significantly cheaper and has most of the worthwhile Foxtel content anyway. 6 months ago I got my mum off Foxtel after 15+ years paying $100+ and onto Binge and Netflix and she’s loving it.

  2. Are we gonna see Foxtel bring MTV 90’s and MTV 00’s to their Service the same way Fetch Did?
We may gonna talk with Paramount ANZ or MTV Global about this.

  3. Wow paying more for ads and in these times who really can $140 per month that’s outrageous honestly. Paid tv use to be paid so there were no ads. So now it should be free for everyone.

    • Spot on. Back in the day Pay TV advertised that their main advantage over free to air was that we didn’t have to watch advertisements 😂

  4. Sounds like they just put HD and Multiscreen into the package and are pretending you’re getting it for free and put all the prices up..

  5. Every pricing / package restructure they have done in recent history has been a joke. You’d be better off getting Binge, Kayo and another streaming service or two instead of Foxtel..

    • Mark DF I know a guy with kayo supposed to be live
      Bullshit.
      During Bathurst 1000
he pulled out his phone and said check this out 14 laps behind.

  6. When my current offer expires I will be calling to cancel at these prices, content constantly reduces and the price increases constantly.

  7. Why pay money for me to watch what I want for free yes there are adds so what it’s free and 90% of Foxtel is free and that My friends is a big fat FACT

  8. I have not used Foxtel in years! These days you can pretty much get all of these contents for free. Foxtel has always been way to expensive. Not to mention repetitive with ads….

  9. Looks like we will be canceling our Foxtel package…$100 per month to continue our sports and foxtel, increased by $30 and nothing new added…what a joke.
Never any rewards or loyalty for longtime customers, just price hikes and less content.
The movies are shit and outdated…the new movies you do have are already on Netflix platform. Sports is the only reason we hang around, looks like you know it too so charging overs taking advantage of that.
Stan sports here we come 👍
    Foxtel seeya later

    • When there is a price rise , I just ring up and say I want to cancel , and they give it to me a the same price for another twelve months .

  10. I ditched Foxtel a year & a half ago. Their offering is way overpriced & the content not worth it. I went to Fetch TV, pay nothing per month, Fetch channel packs are $6 per month each if you want them. The fetch interface is very similar to Foxtels & you can download all the latest movies just like Foxtel. I now get YouTube Premium & Kayo for a combined $42 per month. Free to air offers a lot of content these days, it’s also free & contains many if the same programming that Foxtel shows, for instance Pawn Stars, Gold Rush & more. Foxtel isn’t worth it at all.

  11. I’ve been paying $35 for basic package & they are going to raise it to $70 time to cancel this crap & when it comes to sport I only ever want to watch the NRL when can’t I just pay $10 just to watch one sport not the other crap that’s Foxtel the Mafia of TV

  12. After reading the comments I think it’s time to cut Foxtel off and use another provider.
When Foxtel was Austar at least we were given ‘something’ occasionally like free movies – not anymore. Foxtel are taking not giving.

  13. Well I’ve had pay tv since the galaxy days and never felt that I was treated like a loyal customer by anyone.. I feel now is the time to call Foxtel and cancel because all they do when they lose customers is put the price up so they are still not losing money … see ya thieves

  14. Will these price rises effect foxtel go app I guessing they will like its cheaper then having a full subscription and a box but I’m not a fan just money grabbing corporates I had Binge it’s good but doesn’t have everything but you have to do your homework and decide for yourself is it worth it I no foxtel isn’t but it’s just convenient to have it all in one app . It’s all crapp!

  15. Last straw for me, cancelling next month and going to individual subscriptions as required. Most of the stuff on Foxtel is repeats full of adverts and crap in general. Not paying a $120.00 a month for that.

  16. But Foxtel has Great Features too like, Rewind, Fast Forward, Pause, Play, Every Channel on Foxtel, Record on All/Any TV Channels, Huge Recorded Library Space, Full TV Guide Channels, All Important Apps Together, Remote Control Easy to Use & Navigate, Foxtel Go App All Included, And Etc Etc.. And Most Importantly the Internet is Slow/Lagging Binge/Kayo Sucks.. Internet Collapses/Another Outage you’re Bloody Stuffed, unlike with the Foxtel Always Working Good No Problems At All, The Best.!!

    • You must work for Foxtel! 🙂 Our satellite dish cuts out whenever its windy and every time I ring Foxtel they say they will only deal with it AT THE TIME IT HAPPENS??? I tell them so I have to wait for it to happen again?? So your ‘always working good’ claim is rubbish…..

    • Very true Jay. How can I do all the things you list without that great Foxtel box. Particularly for recording shows for later watching. I’m too old to enrol in an electronics degree in order to work around all the stuff that I would have to learn to do with a bunch of separate offerings from here, there and everywhere.

  17. A almost 25 year foxtel customer, who cut the cord late last year, after finding what they were serving up was too expensive, and I could survive as well as save some money each month without it. Within 5 years foxtel will be no more, well at least not the same company it once was – streaming killed off foxtel.

  18. Looks like I’ll be going too, soon as I can find someone that can give me AFL at a decent price.
All I ever had Foxtel for was the AFL and tennis.
They took all the tennis away last June, now want me to pay an extra $30 just for the footy!
Can’t do it on a pension anymore.
    Foxtel are the pits now.

  19. No wonder everyone is jumping overboard Foxtel!
Well done not looking after your customers especially the ones as others have stipulated been with you for a long time!

Pretty pathetic, plus it costs an arm and a leg to watch old outdated TV shows and movies. Totally not worth it.

Already noticed you’ve taken some shows off our package but nothing was advised and I’m still paying the same costs.

You need to start paying attention to your customers or pretty soon you’ll have none.

    I will definitely be cancelling!

  20. We were with Foxtel from almost day one but finally woke up a few years ago. We were paying so much for shows we didn’t even watch so now just subscribe to different streaming platforms and pay less than half of what we were paying for Foxtel! 📺

  21. I got an email saying my monthly price for the new Platinum package would be $77, a rise from $72 a month. Not sure if this is because I’ve been with them for years, I did contact them and was told that this was indeed true. The value of the new package is $140 a month but I’m getting it for $77 a month. It will be interesting to see if they try raising the price for it later, if so, I’ll be removing things like Sports, Showcase and Netflix which I don’t want anyway. I truly believe they try to make it as confusing as possible to deceive people. If they eventually want me to pay $140 a month and not allow me to remove things from the package I’ll be pulling the pin and going elsewhere.

    • Yup I’m another lucky one! I got an email telling me that my Foxtel will change from the $42 I’m paying now to $50 for platinum plus

  22. I have been using Foxtel for many years. What is the best option for good TV shows with a variety of channels.

If should imagine that I would have to get a new TV and all the gadgets that come with the new option I sign up for

  23. I’m out of here too after 20 years. Can’t stand them! Their racing channel is run by school kids anyway. Same tipster’s and panel that couldn’t pick a winner to save themselves. Last straw. Can’t be a***d with them. Obviously in panic-mode due to dwindling subscriber’s. No wonder !!

  24. My Foxtel is increasing from $36 to $50 per month I am forced to have the Movie and Sports channel. I don’t want the Movie channel the movies are the same on Netflix and I only have the Sport channel for AFL. Foxtel are forcing me to have these channels and increase their prices.

  25. Like Rose I got an email from Foxtel with offer for new package at a decent discount to that offered to new subscribers and only a few dollars a month more than I pay now. Loyalty appears to be rewarded. I love the IQ box that enables me to record and fast forward all the ads on Foxtel and free to air. So good to haves all the streaming choices on the one platform. Here is a direct copy of the email.

“Your current pack will close on 29 Febr‌uary 2024. From 1 Mar‌ch we will be moving you to 2024 Platinum. Your pack includes sports, movies, drama and entertainment.
On your first bill from 1 Mar‌ch 2024 your subscription price for 2024 Platinum will be $102 per month.”

This is considerable discount to the offer for new subscribers so I will stick with the great Foxtel IQ box which enable me to fast forward ads on Foxtel and free to air TV.

  26. Legit the only reason foxtel still exists, is because people like my 70 yo parents are technologically illiterate. They are losing customers every year because they are dying, simple. Literlly noone under the age of 40 will pay 4-5x the subscription cost and STILL HAVE ADS

What planet are these news corp and telstra execs on? how do they still have a job when they have literally refused to change for ten years and have consistently ignored everything that concumers have been telling them?

  27. Scifi channel used to be locally produced. They ran an excellent balance of classic and current shows, with regular events and panels.
Then they got axed for imported content.. cue a couple of series on endless, and often random repeat, but we weren’t paying for it as an add on any more.
Now it’s axed completely and we’re told that other channels will cover the content.
No they won’t.. multiple other subscriptions will..
The religion and shopping channels are multiplying, all the quirky stuff is gone..
When you become just like the others, noone will pay a premium for you anymore..

  28. I have been a long time Foxtel customer. Having the platinum package would cost me $140-$125 per month. Finally they now offer loyalty packages. Now I get the same product for $60 per month. VERY happy

  29. They put the same movies on, and TV shows you already seen. Not happy with Foxtel. Should be one price for all the channel The money we pay for it and they put commercials on. I think one day I’ll get this taking off I can get free movies, and two free channels from the USA movies before they come on Foxtel.

  30. Been a loyal Foxtel customer for 15+ years, my sister has been with them a couple years. She receives the following email in February:
“We are writing to let you know that we introduced a new pricing & packaging structure on 1 Febr‌uary 2024.
What does this mean for me?
Your current pack will close on 29 Febr‌uary 2024. From 1 Mar‌ch we will be moving you to 2024 Platinum. Your pack includes sports, movies, drama and entertainment.
On your first bill from 1 Mar‌ch 2024 your subscription price for 2024 Platinum will be $60 per month.*”

I am currently on platinum plus paying $140 per month, I ring Foxtel to ask for same deal as my sister as she will be getting everything I am paying for now for 2 years but no lock in contract…. but am told that’s not happening I am on the best deal they can offer….it seems they are not looking after their loyal long time clients, only rewarding those who have signed up in the last few years…. I am currently doing my research into what other streaming services will suit me and will be closing my account soon.

  31. What a joke , they remove a channel which people like to put crap channels in it’s place, we pay good money for Foxtel and they do what they feel is best, so much for customer service there packages are crap the only package is the most expensive, l feel it’s time to finish with this so called bullshit entertainment service and look elsewhere

  32. I pay 157 a month moved to a new house they charged me 352 to get it put on at the new house the Sport is only reason why I have Foxtel movies are crap same tv shows from when I was younger they need to change their programs or I’m gone Foxtel sux big time
