In an exhilarating climax to this year’s edition of The Masked Singer Australia, Dami Im emerged victorious, claiming the championship title and once again proving her sterling vocal prowess.

A decade after her breakthrough victory on The X Factor, Im staged a triumphant return to the same stage, donning the guise of Snow Fox.

Her commanding final act, a rendition of Ariana Grande‘s hit Dangerous Woman, threw the judging panel into a state of confusion, with speculative guesses ranging across international music icons. The panel comprising Mel B, Dave Hughes, Abbie Chatfield, and Chrissie Swan wrestled with the enigma of Snow Fox’s true identity. However, it was Swan who demonstrated her sleuthing acumen by pinpointing Im beneath the mask.

Reflecting on her triumph, Im expressed her elation with the phrase,

“It feels amazing to be out [from under the mask]. I actually won The X Factor here, on this same stage, exactly 10 years ago. And now I’m back winning this!”

Her win provided a nostalgic full circle in her career timeline.

In an emotional admission, Im lauded Mel B, attributing her English language acquisition to the Spice Girls‘ discography, a poignant homage to her childhood adaptation to a new culture after migrating from South Korea.

The journey to the finale also revealed personal milestones for Conrad Sewell, known as Bouncer on the show, who shared his backstage experience and the forthcoming addition to his family, with a daughter on the way.

In an expression of sentimental revelation, Sewell commented,

“It was an emotional rollercoaster backstage. Everyone was like, you’re really going to go on a journey. They were right! I had a great time.”

The sentiment was echoed by runner-up Darren Hayes, the artist behind Grim Reaper‘s mask, who candidly disclosed the emotional gravity of performing while dealing with personal emotions spurred by Chatfield’s reaction to his performances.

Hayes remarked,

“It’s really hard to sing and cry!”

He elaborated on his participation as a rejuvenating and supportive experience amidst personal tribulations over the past year, stating,

“I never thought I’d do this show [and] I’m so glad I did… It’s been like a warm hug, and I really needed that. I’ve had a tough year.”
