England hung on until the last minute to salvage a draw in the Fourth Test at the SCG.

The Seven Network recorded an average free-to-air audience of 1.56 million viewers nationally for Sunday afternoon’s third session, the biggest audience ever for a cricket session on Seven.

Data obtained exclusively by TV Blackbox reveals the FOX Cricket commercial-free coverage from the SCG also delivered even more massive viewing numbers than the previous four days.

The Foxtel Group achieved a national average audience peak of 758K across Foxtel and Kayo in the final session of play on Day 5.

Across the full day of play, the FOX Cricket coverage averaged 459K across the platforms of Foxtel and Kayo, the highest ratings day overall.

All five days of the Fourth Test averaged 422K across Foxtel and Kayo; up +11% vs the entire Sydney Test last year.

Earlier in the day, the second session had 1.35 million free-to-air viewers nationally for Channel 7, while the first session recorded 1.22 million viewers nationally. All sessions dominated their timeslots, ranking #1 in 25 to 54s, 16 to 39s and total people. Seven had five of the top six programs nationally, four of which were Ashes sessions.

In the capital cities, Seven recorded a commercial audience share of 66.9% in total people and 68.4% in 25 to 54s across the day.
