JOHNNY RUFFO and his ongoing battle with Brain Cancer – This weekend on 7NEWS Spotlight

There was a time when Johnny Ruffo felt invincible. Now he knows too well how fragile life is.

Singing and dancing his way into Australians’ hearts on The X Factor in 2011 was just the beginning for the youngster full confidence and charm.

A record deal and platinum debut single would quickly follow, plus tours with One Direction, New Kids on the Block and the Backstreet Boys, and a starring role on drama Home and Away.

Then, in 2017, Johnny’s world came crashing down.

Brain cancer.

Immediate surgery to remove a large tumour was followed by 12 months of aggressive chemotherapy and radiation.

Johnny fought like he was never going to be beaten and the cancer retreated. But in November last year, more than a year after he entered remission, came the devastating news that his cancer was back.

In this emotional edition of 7NEWS Spotlight, witness the most private battle of larger-than-life Johnny and the enormous fight he now faces.

Johnny, his family and his medical team allowed 7NEWS Spotlightto follow him for months, to be there for every critical moment as he battles this relapse and to document the final days leading up to the biggest news of his life.

Above all else, this is a beautiful love story of Johnny and his girlfriend, Tahnee, the fierce passion and enduring bond getting them through the fight of his life.

7NEWS Spotlight: Fight of His Life airs 7pm this Sunday on Channel 7 and 7Plus
